In Room 121. Over the past 6 years the United States has seen an upsurge in violent uprisings, demonstrations and riots in response to police murders. On August 9th, a white police officer in Ferguson, MO shot and killed black 18-year-old Michael Brown, resulting in an 11 day uprising that shook the country. Eyewitnesses from these events will explore the connections between the uprisings, the reasons Ferguson seemed different from past unrest after police shootings and the importance of uprisings that militantly respond to police violence.
