FAR | Duke Campus: Reynolds Industries Theater | Stage | Indy Week

When: Feb. 24-25, 8 p.m. 2012

"I've always been interested in the body slightly misbehaving, the body being slightly disorientated, slightly disjointed. And that creates its inherent beauty." That statement by British choreographer Wayne McGregor describes both the movement he choreographs and the narratives he creates and directs with Random Dance, his 10-dancer company. They end a weeklong residency at Duke with the bang of two performances of their latest work, FAR. McGregor's interest in the Age of Enlightenment led him to make FAR, which expresses how the explosion and categorization of knowledge reshaped both the social and individual body. Dramatic lighting constructions literalize these ideas as well, and Ben Frost's spare score supports and foregrounds the movement. —Chris Vitiello
