In the spirit of Autumn--as in a period of maturity, as in the season of one's life--for this year's Fall Guide we decided to honor local residents who have been consistently and exceptionally contributing to the Triangle arts scene. Like the first fall of leaves, or the slightest dip in temperature, many of these individuals may go unnoticed on a day-to-day basis. They work out of cubicles, in classrooms, behind microphones and lighting boards, in inconspicuous mountain communities, diligently pursuing their life's passion. And in the process, allowing others to participate in artistic revelation. These are the children of "I can" and "I will," of "I've done" and "I continue to do ..." They have not allowed "can't be done," "never been done," or "no reason to do" stop them--they only find ways to continue to contribute their vision and voices to the human life. There is a time and season for everything. In this changing season, we take time to acknowledge those who, through their wisdom and determination, have increased our own understanding of living life to the fullest. We've also included, for your seasonal pleasure, "Fallternatives," a harvest of events worth the wait. Get out and go; see and do; and don't forget to notice the leaves changing in the process ... --olufunke moses
