Even the Losers: A Tom Petty Tribute

When: Wed., Feb. 14, 8 p.m. 2018

In early October, the hugely influential songwriter Tom Petty died suddenly, just a few weeks shy of his sixty-seventh birthday, leaving behind his band the Heartbreakers and millions of fans around the globe. Beyond his many celebrated hits, Petty had a knack throughout his career for capturing the restlessness of the human condition. For Valentine's Day, a crew of locals is posting up at The Pinhook to celebrate Petty's inimitable work and soothe those hearts that might still be healing. Guests include Shirlette Ammons, Phil Cook, Kym Register, Molly Sarlé, Hiss Golden Messenger's M.C. Taylor, Mipso's Libby Rodenbough, and others. Such a large, varied ensemble will undoubtedly be capable of exploring the many nuanced facets of Petty's beloved songs—be sure you're ready to belt the chorus of "Free Fallin'" along with everyone when the time comes. —Allison Hussey
