Emerging Artists Awards Ceremony

Now in its 28th year, the Durham Arts Council's Ella Fountain Pratt Emerging Artists Grants have funded hundreds of crucial projects by artists in Durham, Chatham and Orange counties. This night of performances and awards celebrates the past and future of the area's arts, and also honors the late Mary D.B.T. Semans with performances by grant alumni including singer-songwriter Lois Deloatch, violinist and Borromeo Quartet founder Nicholas Kitchen, and dancer/choreographers Gaspard Louis and Kristin Taylor. The 2012 class of Emerging Artists Grant recipients includes writers Diane Daniel, Anita Woodley and Laurel Ferejohn; musicians Hope Marasco and Will Ridenour; craftspeople Drucilla Pettibone, Christine Hager-Braun and Sasha Bakaric; photographer Matthew Ford; filmmaker Notasia DeRubertis; dancer Kristin Taylor; mixed media artists Nuno Gomes and Chance Murray; painter Anne Gregory; and sculptor Gracelee Lawrence.
