Electric Six, Constellations, Alcazar Hotel

When: Wed., Sept. 29, 9 p.m. 2010

Detroit's irreverent garage-funksters Electric Six hail from the mid-'90s, when they were known as The Wildbunch. While it was an appropriate moniker, they reformed post-millennially as E6 and scored a hit first in the U.K., then here, with their cheeky "Danger! High Voltage" and the amusing disco-surf "Gay Bar." The group dons a variety of styles, all wedded to pulsing beats and a wry sense of humor. Their fame faded quickly, but they've continued to release fine, underappreciated albums and proved to be terrific, high-energy performers. Atlanta's Constellations just released a slinky, funk-infused debut that drifts through late-night psychedelic vistas colored by keyboard swirls and undulating rhythms. Tickets are $12 in advance or $14 day of for the 9 p.m. show. —Chris Parker

Price: $12-14
