Duke University Dance Program: November Dances

Duke’s annual November Dances shows off faculty and student choreography and performance on the same program. Three faculty members show work made in collaboration with local musicians, some of whom will play live with the performance: Andrea E. Woods Valdés teams with Greensboro-based composer and flutist Julia Price, Ava LaVonne Vinesett pairs with percussionist Richard Vinesett and Tyler Walters works with Nina Wheeler’s jazz repertory. Four students present as well: an Anne Talkington solo that started as a street performance in Greece, a six-dancer meditation on trust by Haylee Levin and a duet by Ellen Brown and Stephanie Joe, made from the prompt “My fear of ______ has limited me.” —Chris Vitiello
