Doughman Quadrathlon

When: Sat., May 28, 8 a.m. 2011

Downtown Durham—Seriously annoyed that you missed the Krispy Kreme Challenge this year? Worried about waiting a whole year before witnessing supreme gastronomic silliness combined with pure athleticism? No need to fret: The fifth annual Doughman Quadrathlon is here! The Doughman is the world's premier team relay quadrathlon, combining competitive eating with a traditional triathlon: Eat + bike + swim + run. Puking is not encouraged. Teams of racers eat their way through Durham to raise money for DIG, a youth-driven urban farming leadership development, and SeeSaw Studio, a free after-school design program. The event kicks off at 8 a.m. in the Durham Centre parking lot (corner of Foster and Seminary) and is followed by the Doughman hEArTs Durham Banquet at Motorco Music Hall at 7 p.m., showcasing Durham's local food gems and entertainment. Watching is always free; to make a donation or buy tickets to the banquet (they're $15–$25). —Christina Cass

Price: Free to watch, banquet $15-$25
