Dishoom 2: Revenge of the Drums

When: Fri., Sept. 13, 10 p.m. 2013

Just so you know that the Triangle's bhangra beat specialist, DJ Rang, has long-term plans for this all-genre dance party, he's started selling "Dishoom" T-shirts online, designed in the same cracked-brick font as the title logo of the classic 1975 Indian film Sholay. But you know a party ain't a party unless live drums are involved, which is why Rang's live set will include area percussionists G2 (Jeetu) on dhol and Brevan Hampden on skins. Unless you're well-versed in Punjabi songs or membranophones, you might not even know what a dhol is. Don't worry, you'll get the gist of it. "We also won't be rehearsing for this party," says DJ Rang. "So anything and everything you hear will be on-the-spot improvisation." —Eric Tullis

Price: $7-10
