DiscoTECH | Museum of Life & Science | Socials | Indy Week

When: Fri., June 1, 7 p.m. 2012

A long time ago, my family stayed at some motel that had a disco. I was entranced by the flashing lights and spent like an hour in the tub to make sure I looked good before I could boogie down, only to be told I couldn't go in because I was a kid. Bitterness ensued. Perhaps I will partake in the DiscoTECH "Night at the Museum" event that includes cocktails, food, valet parking and two stories of '70s beats and live music from K!CK, respectively, along with a silent and live auction. Perhaps it will not reflect the strange contrast of working-class malaise and gaudy aspiration that has contributed to the enduring appeal of the film and soundtrack to Saturday Night Live, but that's neither here nor there. Stereotypical 1970s attire is encouraged, so break out those vests and those awesome suits. Proceeds go to the museum; tickets are $75 apiece or $750 for a table. The event runs 7–11 p.m. —Zack Smith

Price: $75 ($750 a table)
