Coheed & Cambria, Moving Mountains, Pianos Become the Teeth

When: Sun., May 13, 8 p.m. 2012

Give them this: New York's Coheed and Cambria are committed to their concept. Fittingly tagged as Rush for the emo set, Coheed songs are built with frontman Claudio Sanchez's upper-register Geddy Lee-like vocals, plus prog-metal guitar workouts and forceful vamps that distantly echo Sunny Day Real Estate and Explosions in the Sky. They offer an abundance of ostentatious displays for their five-album narrative The Armory Wars, a hero's journey full of interplanetary battle, which Sanchez further illuminates in a comic book series. Openers Moving Mountains and Pianos Become the Teeth complement Coheed's post-rock and emo-core influences, respectively. The 8 p.m. show is sold out. —Bryan C. Reed
