Though it may seem counterintuitive, an effective new therapy for treating combat-related post-traumatic stress involves submerging soldiers into a virtual reality replay of their time overseas. Applications like the video-game-based "Virtual Iraq" allow veterans to gradually face their traumatic memories until they acclimate to the anxieties they trigger. StreetSigns Center's artistic director, Joseph Megel, incorporates that technology into the premiere of this wartime drama, which local audiences saw in a developmental form in 2011 under the title You Are Dead. You Are Here. In Christine Evans's script, an American soldier's mediated therapy becomes more challenging when the experiences of a young Iraqi woman from Fallujah are increasingly incorporated into his virtual—and physical—reality. When that connection intensifies, exactly what is he being drawn toward? An all-star cast includes Trevor Johnson, Smita Misra, and Elisabeth Lewis Corley. —Byron Woods
