Carbon Leaf, Jack the Radio

When: Fri., Dec. 30, 8 p.m. 2011

In 2004, Richmond, Va., band Carbon Leaf released its major-label debut, Indian Summer. It was well received but hardly made a dent in their story, for Carbon Leaf had been slugging it out independently since 1992. Carbon Leaf started as a sort of Celtic folk act and eventually built a career with acoustic pop/ rock and fervid live shows. Having since returned to indie status, the band's sound has changed over the years from full-on Pogues-influenced acoustic rock to leaner country rock, but the live show hasn't lost its spirit. Raleigh's Jack the Radio opens. Tickets to the 8 p.m. show are $14.50 in advance, $18 day of show; visit lincolntheatre.com. —Ashley Melzer

Price: $14.50-18
