Bynum Mill Access Tree Identification Hike

When: Sat., Nov. 8, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. 2014

Guide will be Andy Upshaw with Grand Trees of Chatham. Group will hike along the Bynum Mill Access trail downstream along the Haw River below the Bynum dam to Pokeberry Creek, in the Lower Haw State Natural Area. Hike is about two miles round-trip. Register for this free tour by calling 919-545-8044 Monday through Friday at the Central Carolina Community College’s Continuing Education department. Wear sturdy shoes for walking on uneven terrain and bring water. Please note there are no restroom facilities at this location. Directions: Bynum is located off US 15-501 between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro. From US 15-501, turn onto Bynum Road (east side of river, near Allen & Son BBQ). Follow Bynum Road to fork and turn left onto Bynum Church Road. Go uphill on Bynum Church Road and past Bynum United Methodist Church (on your right). Continue downhill on Bynum Church Road past the closed metal gate and turn right at the red fire hydrant into the paved parking lot. Meet in the parking lot.
