BUDDY: THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY

TUESDAY, JULY 21–SUNDAY, JULY 26, RALEIGH

RALEIGH MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM—Before Jersey Boys or Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, there was Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story. Set before "the day the music died," the jukebox musical tells the story of rock star Buddy Holly's meteoric rise to fame in the late 1950s—before his life was cut short, along with Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson, in a 1959 plane crash. The musical debuted in London in 1989 before moving to Broadway in 1990, earning a Tony nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. This NC Theatre production stars James Barry as Holly; DJ Salisbury directs and choreographs. 7:30 p.m. Tues.Sun.; 2 p.m. Sat.Sun., $25.14$80.14, 2 E.
