"Broadway Backwards" | Local 506 | Stage | Indy Week

"Broadway Backwards"

When: Mon., April 15, 8 p.m. 2013

What do theatricals do on their one night off in a week? Answer: One more show, for charity. Obie Award-winner Taylor Mac and Lisa Brescia, who play the Emcee and Sally Bowles in PlayMakers Rep's current production of Cabaret, star in this evening of cabaret and comedy to benefit the N.C. AIDS Action Network and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, co-sponsored by Manbites Dog Theater. The twist in the title? All of the musical tributes to Broadway's latest and greatest will be performed cross-gender. With contributions from local lights including Ray Dooley and Julie Fishell (accompanied by Cabaret music director Mark Hartman), this we want to see. The event includes a raffle for Broadway swag, regional theater tickets and more. Jeffrey Meanza hosts. —Byron Woods
