For some bands, it all comes down to one album. Despite the enduring popularity of Pink Floyd's other (and better) records, the group's reputation often hinges on 1973's Dark Side of the Moon. The LP still gets played incessantly on classic rock radio stations, and its loose, psychedelic transitions are a favorite reference point for those who claim that people don't listen to albums the way they did in the '70s.

On Friday, Classic Albums Live—a popular group that re-creates old albums "note for note, cut for cut"—will offer its take on Dark Side at Carolina Theatre. If you're more interested in the "greatest hits" angle, Brit Floyd takes a similarly exacting approach in re-creating the band's staples on Sunday at DPAC. —Jordan Lawrence
