Brandon Graham

When: Sat., Oct. 27, 5-7 p.m. 2012

Comic book writer/ artist Brandon Graham has enjoyed a renaissance this past year, with his surreal, idea-filled books getting a new audience from Image Comics. His series King City, available in an oversized 400-plus-page compilation for less than $20, combines realistic relationships with crime, oddball humor and a genetically enhanced cat. Prophet, which he scripts with a variety of artists (including himself), takes a lesser-known 1990s superhero property and turns it into a universe-spanning adventure involving truly alien creatures, detached narration and barbarian action. And Saturday's event is the last stop on his tour for Multiple Warheads, which involves the relationship between an assassin named Sexica and her werewolf boyfriend in an atomic-irradiated Russia. It's weird, and it's awesome. A tour-exclusive cover for Multiple Warheads #1 will be available at this signing, which runs 5–7 p.m. —Zack Smith
