Body Games, Estrangers, C/\L/\PSE

When: Sat., May 30, 9 p.m. 2015

Wondrous Chapel Hill electronic trio Body Games had a date secured for a record-release show, but they didn't have a record they were yet ready to release. So in a scramble to give listeners something new (so new, in fact, they were still adding and mixing late last week), Body Games decided to record a batch of covers by area acts. Known as Local Love Vol. 1, the excellent set applies the seductive and synth-heavy, bass-anchored and bold Body Games aesthetic to four tunes from disparate bands, including folk rockers Rogue Band of Youth and brazen pop group Estrangers. They'll split sales from the EP evenly among the groups that penned the original tracks, adding an ecumenical and community-minded twist to the general cover-album conceit. And live, Body Games favor grand spectacle, with programmed projections and lights that turn the shows into synesthetic experiences. Estrangers and C/\L/\PSE open. As for that LP, it's mostly done, and Body Games are working with labels to build a release plan. 9 p.m., $6, 14 W. Martin St., Raleigh, 919-833-1091, Haver Currin
