Bloodsoaked, Morose Vitality, Grooms of the Stool

When: Sat., March 28, 9:30 p.m. 2015

Peter Hasselbrack, the mastermind of Raleigh’s Bloodsoaked, kept his old-school death metal alive for almost a decade. Since 2006, he recorded four albums, managing most of the work himself. But tonight, Hasselbrack reads Bloodsoaked its last rites. This will be the outfit’s final show on American soil. After an upcoming 10-day European tour, Hasselbrack will retire Bloodsoaked. At least he’ll bow out on a high note: September’s Religious Apocalypse compiled three new tracks, two covers and four live cuts, all capturing the project’s power in fine form. Bloodsoaked summons the spirit of mid-’90s Tampa with a barrage of low, chugging riffs, a cascade of drums and a throaty bellow that bounces between horror tales and anti-religious animosity. —Bryan C.
