BILL T. JONES/ARNIE ZANE COMPANY
If the future truly is "the undiscovered country," we all will be its immigrants. That seems to be the premise of choreographer Bill T. Jones's multi-year project Analogy: A Trilogy, whose second section premieres this week at the American Dance Festival. Analogy/Lance: Pretty aka the Escape Artist is based on Jones's 2014 interviews with his nephew, Lance T. Briggs, a recovering addict and paraplegic who came of age while plunging into the demimonde of New York's club culture and sex trade at the dawn of the 1990s. Look for Jones's trademark fusion of text, storytelling, and movement to a live soundscape by composer Nick Hallett and baritone Matthew Gamble. —Byron Woods
