Countercultural novelist--and North Carolina native--Tom Robbins (who hails from Blowing Rock, and whose eight novels include Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, Jitterbug Perfume and Another Roadside Attraction) manifests this Monday night at Raleigh's Quail Ridge Books to read from his new novel, Villa Incognito. Robbins' eighth epistle concerns a group of Vietnam vets who chose to remain MIA, the curious relationships between a family of women and Tanuki, a trickster figure from Japanese folklore. It is also said to concern identity, masquerade and disguise--"the false mustache of the world." The services start at 7 p.m.
