Pianist Glenn Mehrbach and vocalist Deborah Klinger are staging their "Songs of Love and Vegetables" cabaret show at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Hillsborough. A goodwill offering is suggested.
The husband-and-wife duo will perform a selection of lyrical tunes ranging from "Ya Don't Like Baseball" to "A Married Man." And as for the vegetables, well, it might just refer to something other than the common garden-variety food staple.
"The reason [for the title] was to emphasize the bouncing between pensive and humorous material," he says. "And the show is very personal. There's a serious song about divorce, followed by a humorous one about the reality of being married. And then there's a section about my love for baseball, and a quick tour through some numbers from musical theater shows I've written."
Sounds like Mehrback and Klinger have all the bases covered in this one. For more information, or for directions to UUCH, call 309-4227 or visit the Web site at: www.uuchnc.org.
