Benefit for David Alston with John Howie Jr & the Rosewood Bluff, Ben Davis & the Jetts, Jule Brown, Turchi, Bastages, Monsonia

When: Tue., April 10, 7:30 p.m. 2012

Last March, David Alston was diagnosed with cancer. He's spent the year since aggressively attacking the disease with chemotherapy and, this February, a Triple-Tandem transplant of stem cells, a first for the hospital at UNC-Chapel Hill. The longtime Weaver Street Market employee has also found a community support system organizing around him. This benefit concert will feature sets from John Howie Jr. & the Rosewood Bluff, Ben Davis & the Jetts, Jule Brown, Turchi, the Bastages and Monsonia. "I've known Dave since the mid-'90s, and I love him," Howie says simply. Admission is free; donations are encouraged. The music starts at 7:30 p.m. —Ashley Melzer

Price: Donations accepted
