When: Fri., April 1, 7 p.m. 2011
Ain't nothin' wrong with a stone-cold-mutha-effin'-comin'-out-yo-ass-BAD ASS. Shaft. Terence Stamp in The Limey. Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead 2. Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation. Where would our lives be without those who throw down, take names and bitch-slap those who be frontin'?
Ben Thompson has made a writing career of chronicling the baddest of asses on his website, badassoftheweek.com, which offers highly profane and strangely well-researched essays on figures historical, literary, cinematic, fictional, nonfictional—all that matters is that they are bad, and that they are...um, ass. Two powerful volumes of his badass chronicles have been published (though not printed on the flesh of infidels and written in their blood, which would be truly badass, or possibly the Necronomicon); he'll sign them at Chapel Hill Comics from 7–9 p.m., including the all-new Badass: Birth of a Legend. Warning: If you are afraid of naughty words or possess a testosterone deficiency, stay the hell away from this thing unless you want to spontaneously combust. —Zack Smith
