Barefoot in the Park

When: June 9-20 2010

Sure, opposites attract, but can there be too much of a good thing? Kennedy Theatre kicks off its annual Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy series with a 1963 play by Neil Simon that examines that very question. Employing character types that younger theatergoers will recognize from Dharma and Greg, Barefoot centers on free-spirited Corie (Casey Tuma) and uptight Paul (Robbie Gay), who get married, cohabit in a Greenwich Village apartment and soon find their marital friction erupting into a flame of discord. To add more spice to this marriage, director Richard Roland has arranged to cast walk-on parts with area personalities, politicians and other notables, a cast that will change from night to night. —Sarah Ewald
