Band Together Celebrity Bartending Event

When: Wed., Nov. 13, 6-9 p.m. 2013

In a dozen years, Band Together has raised more than $3 million for a variety of charities, largely by hosting concerts in large outdoor spaces and corraling corporate philanthropy. But they've never been too mighty for small-scale events, whether it's a battle of bands at a club or this night of cocktails served by area politicians and entertainers. As the frontman of hard-living, heavy-moaning alt-country act American Aquarium, BJ Barham should know his way around a brown liquor drink. He'll join Yarn's Blake Christiana, Chatham County Line's John Teer and The Connells' Doug MacMillan, the event's non-Americana drink slinger. Radio personality Kitty Kinnin joins in, perhaps offering shot-by-shot analysis as Raleigh mayor Nancy McFarlane and councilman Bonner Gaylord mix cocktails, too. —Grayson Haver Currin
