Ask Me Another Live Taping

When: Wed., Nov. 19, 7 p.m. 2014

CAROLINA THEATRE—Triangle stages are awash in radio, particularly of the NPR-syndicated talk and variety mold. The Dinner Party Download taped at Nightlight in July. The INDY interviewed Radiolab cohost Jad Abumrad before his appearance at the Carolina Theatre last week. The Thistle & Shamrock's Fiona Ritchie dashed through several Triangle venues last month, and A Prairie Home Companion's Garrison Keillor is headed for DPAC in January. (He's probably already on the way, by wagon train.) And this week, the quiz show Ask Me Another—sort of a looser, even goofier Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me!—comes to town. Hosted by Ophira Eisenberg, with musical help from songwriter Jonathan Coulton, the program inflicts absurdist pub trivia and word games on a panel of wisecracking comedians and semi-celebrity guests, with lots of tossed-off yuks and groans. In Durham, Eisenberg grills Mountain Goats musician and Wolf in White Van author John Darnielle with trivia questions for its recurring "Very Important Puzzler" segment. Caveat emptor: There will be parody songs. 7 p.m. $22–$68.50, 309 W. Morgan St., 919-560-3030, —Brian Howe
