Arnold Richardson

When: Sun., Nov. 10, 3 p.m. 2013

In May, Arnold Richardson will be one of a few people to receive a North Carolina Heritage Award. Richardson, who also goes by his Iroquois name, Tsa'ne Do'se, is a talented sculptor, craftsman and musician who has committed his life to revitalizing eastern North Carolina's Native American tribes. He has instructed and inspired many artists, and he carries on the tradition himself with the cedar flute. He carves his own instruments and plays traditional Native American music that tells centuries-old tales. He'll be playing those old rhythms and a few of his own compositions at this afternoon presentation. —Ashley Melzer
