The library is one of 100 locations across the country hosting this series. After each film screening featuring one of the six notable American music genres, Dr Jonathan Kramer, a cellist & professor at NCSU, will lead a discussion about the genre & its impact. -- Sep 1, 2 pm: New Beginnings Gospel Choir. -- Sep 5, 7 pm: blues & gospel featured in two films: The Blues: Episode I: Feel Like Going Home & Say Amen Somebody. -- Sep 8, 2 pm: The Broadway Dames. -- Sep 12, 7 pm: Broadway & Tin Pan Alley are featured in The American Musical, Episode 2: Syncopated City. -- Sep 15, 2 pm: Route 55 Orchestra. -- Sep 19, 7 pm: Swing jazz is featured in Ken Burns’ Jazz Episode 6, Swing: The Velocity of Celebration. -- Sep 22, 2 pm: Tommy Goldsmith. -- Sep 26, 7 pm: county & bluegrass are featured in High Lonesome: The Story of Bluegrass Music. -- Sep 29, 2 pm: The Stray Dogs. -- Oct. 3 7 pm: Rock is featured in History of Rock n Roll: Episode 6, Plugging In. -- Oct 6, 2 pm: Stage Door Productions hosts a Latin dance class. -- Oct 10, 7 pm: Latin rhythms are featured in Latin Music USA Episode 1: Bridges.
