American Dance Festival Block Party

When: Sun., May 23, 5-7 p.m. 2010

The dancers are coming, the dancers are coming! In less than a month, performers from all over the world will converge on Durham for the renowned American Dance Festival. Last year, ADF hosted a successful block party to raise awareness of the event, and they're bringing it back this year, bigger and better. Treats are in store for attendees, with local vendors such as Locopops and Parlez-Vous Crepes providing sustenance, and Durham's own African American Dance Ensemble performing. To whet appetites for some serious modern dance, clips from the upcoming season will be shown. Those who bring three nonperishable food items for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina will receive 25 percent off any ADF ticket purchased that evening. WRAL's Erin Hartness will host. Peabody Place, downtown Durham. —Sarah Ewald
