All the Real Girls

When: Tue., Oct. 25, 7 p.m. 2011

This sweet, small-town love story was co-written by UNC School of Arts grads David Gordon Green and Paul Schneider. Also directed by Green, All the Real Girls went on to win a Special Jury Prize at Sundance 2003, gaining recognition for Zooey Deschanel (starring in TV's The New Girl) and perennial indie darling Patricia Clarkson (last seen in Main Street). Filmed in Asheville and Marshall, the film follows the story of a modern Lothario (Schneider) who falls in love with his best friend's sister (Deschanel). Subtle, moving performances by then unknown and now can't-sneak-past-the-magazine-rack-without-seeing-their-faces actors, as well as a plethora of Tar Heel connections, make this a great date night. —Christina Cass
