Alesana, Megosh, Cosmoscope, A Turning Day

When: Wed., Nov. 20, 8 p.m. 2013

When Alesana released 2010's A Place Where the Sun Is Silent, the band barely resembled the scrappy metalcore outfit that had formed in Raleigh six years earlier. The album embraced prog-metal excess, post-hardcore shifts, pop balladry and even musical-theater drama, all linked to intricately narrative lyrics. By then, the band members had dispersed across America, convening only to record and tour. They're mostly back in Raleigh now, but as an in-demand touring outfit with a new label venture to nurture, they play hometown shows only rarely. This one precedes a Japanese tour and introduces Baltimore's Megosh, signed to Alesana's Revival Recordings. —Bryan C. Reed
