Here's a reason to huddle around the radio on Thursday, May 19: WXYC 89.3 FM is featuring a show called "Three Hours, Three Decades, Three Times the Headache" from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Raleigh's Jeff Jarema, 'zine and liner note king and primal-rock aficionado, and his trusted co-host Blast-Off Bob return for one of their quarterly assaults on the area's airwaves. As promised by the show's title, three decades will be spotlighted.
Hour one, "Rock 'n' Roll Didn't Come from England" (these guys are a little title happy, so bear with them), features '50s rock 'n' roll, while hour three, "Garage Beat '66," introduces the new reissue series of garage-band racket from the mid '60s. But it's the middle hour that promises the most treats for your ears. Titled "The Rock 'n' Roll Circus Is in Town," the segment will present English rock from the mid '70s, straight out of the pages of Circus Raves magazine. Adding to the second-hour festivities will be dramatic readings of choice Circus Raves reviews.
