ADF: Rosie Herrera | Duke Campus: Reynolds Industries Theater | Stage | Indy Week

ADF: Rosie Herrera

When: July 12-14, 8 p.m. 2010

Rosie Herrera came to American Dance Festival last year, where she presented Various Stages of Drowning: A Cabaret (2009), performed by ADF students during Past/ Forward. This year, she returns with the work (back by popular demand, ADF's website bugles), which centers on dream states using elements of dance and cabaret. (Herrera draws on her own experiences, incorporating what she's learned from working as everything from a hip-hop dancer to a Latin showgirl.) The moves she uses range from tender and balletic to hip-hop-inspired. She'll also debut Pity Party, an ADF-commissioned work getting its world premiere. —Sarah Ewald
