Today & Yesteryear Festival

The Apex Festival Commission celebrates the 13th annual Today & Yesteryear Festival with an array of family-oriented events. Started as a way to bring people to downtown Apex area, the festival has become a traditional fall event in Apex. "The festival is a good way to celebrate Apex and the historical downtown area, and to give people an awareness of what's going on downtown," says David Wood, recreational coordinator for the Town of Apex. "We try to have something for everybody." These "somethings" include Civil War re-enactors, the Duke and Duchess of Salem Castle in a medieval sword-fighting exhibition, old-time blacksmith demonstrations, pony rides, magicians, storytellers and hundreds of arts, crafts and food vendors. Festival-goers can also try their luck panning for gold, fossils, and gems, and live music--from country, to folk to classic rock--will also be featured. So come on down(town) and enjoy yesteryear's festivities. The free festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in historic downtown Apex.
