The N.C. Literary Festival

Cooperatively organized and sponsored by the libraries of UNC-Chapel Hill, N.C. State University and Duke University, The N.C. Literary Festival is one of the state's biggest and baddest literary events. Julia Alvarez (pictured above), author of How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents, In the Time of Butterflies, Something to Declare, and other works, will be this year's keynote speaker. The event takes place April 5 & 6 on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus, where more than 100 writers and performers--including past Indy contributors Lee Smith, Allan Gurganus, Elizabeth Spencer, Hal Crowther, Frances Dowell, Tara Powell, Haven Kimmel and June Spence--will be on hand to read from and sign books, conduct workshops, and take part in panel discussions.
