A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM | THE ENCHANTED FOREST

RALEIGH ROSE GARDEN | ADAM CAVE FINE ART, RALEIGH

THURSDAY, MAY 28–SUNDAY, JUNE 7

Fair warning: For one special night of Seed Art Share and Raleigh Little Theatre's coproduction of A Midsummer Night's Dream, the land of the faeries is going to look a lot different. At first, it seemed Dream would have to go dark on June 6 because the Raleigh Rose Garden, the venue for its run, was unavailable. Then another Enchanted Forest was discovered: Greg Carter's art installation, which overgrows Adam Cave Fine Art from May 30 through July 6. Now, you can choose between two different takes on Shakespeare's verdant tale of magic, mixed-up lovers and those theatrical disasters, the Rude Mechanicals. You can see the full production from your own lawn chair or blanket among the roses or an excerpted showing amid the semi-psychedelic flora of Carter's giant sculptures. Other events associated with The Enchanted Forest include an opening celebration with body painting and cabaret (May 30, 8 p.m.) and a First Friday reception (June 5, 6 p.m.) Raleigh Rose Garden: 7:30 p.m. Thurs.Sat. (except June 6) and June 7, $17, 301 Pogue St., 919-821-3111, www.raleighlittletheatre.org. Adam Cave Fine Art: 7 and 8:30 p.m. June 6, $10 suggested donation, 115-1/2 E. Hargett St., 919-838-6692, www.adamcavefineart.com. —Byron Woods
