A Clockwork Orange

When: July 14-15, 7 p.m. 2010

In honor of Stanley Kubrick's classic 1971 adaptation of Anthony Burgess' allegorical sci-fi novel, I shall attempt to write this blurb in Burgess' fictional Nadsat slang. Come viddy this choodessny sinny about Alex (Malcolm McDowell), who enjoys a bit of the old ultraviolence with his droogs, until some eunuch jelly thou gets him loveted by the millicents, who tolchock his glassies with the Ludovico Technique, which makes him bolnoy every time he thinks of being baddiwad, but keeps him from enjoying his beloved Ludwig Van. OK, that's enough of that. Highly controversial (Roger Ebert still can't stand it, even though it's his wife's favorite film), this disturbing and provocative number plays through July 15 at the Carolina Theatre at 7 p.m. as part of the Summer Repertory Film Series. Come out or get one in the yarbles, thy globby bottle of cheap, stinking chip-oil! (Sorry.) —Zack Smith
