Saltbox Seafood Joint's original location is back.

, on 15-501, last December. And while Saltbox's new location offers a more extensive food and beverage selection, there's something charming about the original location's atmosphere—a tiny, pastel-colored hut that wouldn't seem out-of-place in a quaint coastal town.
The reopened location, in downtown Durham's Little Five Points neighborhood, will feature a slimmer express menu with a choice between fish or shellfish rolls—no full plates from now on, sorry—and a few side options. Thank god: Saltbox's famous hush-honeys are still on offer, glazed with spiced local honey.
Founder and head chef Ricky Moore has been a contestant on the Food Network's Iron Chef
, worked with Michelin Star-rated chefs, and cooked at restaurants all over the world. But despite all of his traveling, as a North Carolina native, he decided to open Saltbox closer to home.
Years later, the legendary restaurant continues to pick up accolades in major food publications

Saltbox's original location opened today at noon and will be open from Tuesday through Saturday, eleven a.m. to five p.m., or, as always, “until we sell out,” which—if you’re a regular, you already know—can sometimes happen rather quickly.
