Rise Biscuits & Donuts, once a single store near Durham's Southpoint Mall, has been steadily expanding its delicious doughy empire. Three new locations have popped up in recent years: two in Raleigh at Cameron Village and Sutton Square, one in Morrisville. Now, stores in Carrboro and downtown Durham are set to open within the next month.

The Carrboro location at East Main Street will open February 27 in one of the newer spaces next to Fleet Feet Sports. Rise will preview the spot February 23, offering free doughnuts from noon until two p.m.

Then, on March 12, Rise will open its downtown Durham location in the former Daisycakes space on Foster Street, near Durham Central Park. Don't worry, Durham, you'll get your shot at some free doughnuts, too—at the Durham Farmers' Market March 5.

A seventh Rise is set to open in the Brier Creek shopping center in May, with others eventually popping up in Charlotte and Dallas, Texas.
