Another installment of the popular "Cooks & Books" series happens Sunday (Nov. 2) when chef and author Gabrielle Hamilton visits McIntyre's Books at Fearrington Village
Hamilton received the James Beard Award in 2011 for best chef in New York and is the owner of and chef at Prune
. And no, the menu is not prune-themed. The name stems from a childhood nickname of Hamilton's. She has a new cookbook out, Prune
, but is also the author of a memoir titled Blood, Bones and Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef
. Hamilton has an MFA in creative writing, that may be why she seems as comfortable putting words together as she is blending spices. The memoir was a New York Times
best-seller and won the James Beard Foundation’s award for Writing and Literature in 2012.
