A coalition of community organizations are hosting a meeting Thursday night exploring developing a food council for Durham County.

The council would comprise representatives from all parts of the local foods system. Consumers, producers, processors, retailers, local decision-makers and other interested parties such as those working on environmental sustainability, health, food access, social equity and animal welfare would ideally be involved. On the agenda for tonight's meting is a discussion of ways to support farms, healthy eating, local economies and ecosystems in Durham County.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at The Shepherd’s House Church, 107 N. Driver St., Durham. For more information or to RSVP for the local food meeting, visit https://durhamfarmandfoodnetwork.wordpress.com.
