As a part of the Arts Everywhere
initiative to promote widespread participation in the arts, UNC-Chapel Hill launched its new Arts Everywhere app today. Available for iPhone and Android, the app will help users discover, track, and plan attendance for arts events at the university, from dance and theater to exhibits and pop-up shows.
The app provides users with custom recommendations, identifies trending topics in the arts on campus, and serves as a social networking platform. It's available to anyone, not just students. UNC is demonstrating the utility of the app by timing its launch with a week of pop-up events on campus with the internationally renowned Dorrance Dance
—the sort of thing it can be hard to keep track of otherwise.
The events are as follows:
Monday, Jan. 22: Lunchtime pop-up performance by Dorrance Dance at Top of Lenoir dining hall
Tuesday, Jan. 23: Pop-up freestyle dance battles featuring Dorrance Dance and soccer freestyle sensation Indi Cowie around campus
Wednesday, Jan. 24: "The Art of Excellence," a public conversation with Michelle Dorrance and UNC Women’s Soccer Head Coach Anson Dorrance in Gerrard Hall
Thursday, Jan. 25: Pop-up dance featuring Dorrance Dance around campus
Search for “Arts Everywhere” in the app store to download the app.
