WKNC's welcome change

comment
Although listening to WKNC's all-metal-all-the-time programming was good fun for about half a song, I must commend the station and its managers for resurrecting the concept of general listenability. A recent article in the Independent Weekly ("Reloaded," Feb. 1) described how the station has been increasingly supportive of local music--also a welcome change.

Unfortunately, WKNC seems to see no harm in lacing its programming with obnoxious advertisements (or virtual advertisements) for "local" businesses--presumably for the economic enrichment of the station.

If WKNC actually is in bad financial shape, wouldn't it be fitting if local bands organized a benefit to rid the station of advertising?
