Wet Ink Ensemble

When: Mon., Dec. 3, 8 p.m. 2012

There's neither money nor fame in showcasing the work of young, unheard-of composers, but that's not why the New York-based Wet Ink Ensemble has chosen that path since its founding in 1998. This collective of 13 musician-composers has built a repertoire of stellar work over that time, ranging from American experimentalists to the contemporary European avant garde, all the while churning up-and-coming composers into the mix. Wet Ink performs new pieces by Duke graduate student composers Bryan Christian, Ben Daniels, D. Edward Davis, Jamie Keesecker, Kenneth David Stewart and Justin Tierney as part of the ensemble's two-year residency sponsored by the Duke Department of Music and a Visiting Artists grant from the Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts. The 8 p.m. show is free to Casbah members; a lifetime membership to the venue is $3. —Chris Vitiello
