Charles Ridgway
  • Charles Ridgway

MCINTYRE'S FINE BOOKS AND MUSIC—It was a tough job, but someone had to do it. As a boy, Charles Ridgway first saw Disneyland before it opened, when he trespassed on the property getting the scoop for his school paper. A few years later, he was writing about Disney full time—from the right side of the law, as it were—in the company's publicity department. Ridgway spent the next 40 years devising promotions for the Disney brand. Now, he's written a memoir entitled Spinning Disney's World. The reading, which begins at 2 p.m., may not be the place to ask him about Disney's role in extracting longer and more lucrative copyrights for its characters at the expense of everyone else, but you can try! Ridgway also reads at the Cary Barnes & Noble June 4 at 7 p.m. —David Fellerath
