Triangle Home Movie Day

When: Sat., Oct. 16, 1-4 p.m. 2010

Home movies are more popular than ever in today's age of digital everything. But in one more generation's time, there will be no more discovering grainy boxes of super 8 footage in the basement, consisting of two minutes of your toddler self running around without a diaper or your aunt's VHS recollections of Christmas 1985 with you loudly voicing your demand for Teddy Ruxpin (a certain amount of projection may have gone into those examples).

The A/V Geeks have teamed with the state archives to help preserve old home movies in their original format (to find out more about donations, contact Kim Cumber: 807-7311, and will project old home movies publicly as part of National Home Movie Day, along with providing information about why saving old home movies, and not just transferring them to DVD, is important. Just please, for the love of God, make sure you know what's on the films before donating them, and possibly check with any grown children as well. This is gonna be seen in public.

Co-sponsored by the NCSU Film Studies Program and A/ V Geeks Transfer Services. —Zack Smith
