Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition

When: Sept. 29-April 28 2013

April 14–15, 2012, marked the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic into the frosty North Atlantic, and numerous movies and TV specials testify to our voyeuristic fascination with the tragedy that took 1,502 lives. This new exhibition not only displays more than 200 artifacts recovered from the two-and-a-half-mile-deep wreck, it personalizes the voyage by having visitors take on the identity of an actual passenger with a replica boarding pass. At the end of the exhibit, visitors learn if they survived the night. The exhibit is listed as appropriate for all ages, but, frankly, I suggest parents use their own judgment in the case of very little ones. —Christina Cass
