SHAKORI HILLS GRASSROOTS FESTIVAL
SHAKORI HILLS—Chatham County's beloved celebration of dance, music and the environment is back for the fifth time! The spring Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance takes place April 19-22 just outside Pittsboro. Come camp out and dance while more than 50 bands and artists perform on four stages, including The Squirrel Nut Zippers, Donna the Buffalo and The Infamous Stringdusters. This year's festival falls on Earth Day, so there will be even more earth-friendly opportunities. For more info, visit www.shakorihills.org or call 542-8142. For more Shakori coverage in this week's Indy, see Living Green and Music Spotlights. —Megan Stein

RICHARD BACCHUS' NEW BAND
SLIM'S—Richard Bacchus has played with Dee Dee and with members of Celtic Frost and Helmet, but he's best known for co-founding D Generation, whose frontman Jesse Malin went on to solo success thanks to Ryan Adams. So, it's fitting that Bacchus arrives to play as The Young Girls with Joe Yerry and Jimbo Britt of The Bleeding Hearts, a band Adams apparently loves. Gritty rock about castaways and love affairs with them. Free show at 10 p.m. —Grayson Currin
